Most cars and trucks in the state of California are required to pass a smog check every 2 years for registration renewal. If your renewal notice indicates that your vehicle is due, bring it to Lloyd’s for an emissions test.
Things to consider when you need a smog test:
- Lloyd’s offers smog tests on vehicles from 2000 and later.
- Battery Change: If you’ve recently changed your car’s battery, drive it for at least a week before getting a smog check - otherwise it won’t pass.
- Check Engine Light: Your car won’t pass the test if the check engine light is lit up on your instrument panel. The light usually indicates an emissions issue, and that needs to be resolved before a smog test.
